Getvirushelp.com was started by Craig Schmugar in 1999, after the Happy99 worm hit the inbox of email users worldwide. That incident lead to the creation of the free Happy99 cleaner app and subsequently launched a 15+ year career in the anti-virus field.
Back then, Happy99 (aka Ska) was the most widely reported threats out of about 10,000 viruses discovered that year. This site was created to help those in need; to provide information and tools to remove the most wide spread threats.
Today there are more threats discovered in 30 minutes than all of 1999, yet the same safety practices are by are large effective. These best practices have been updated, as has this site, to be more relevant and helpful.
